This takes you step-by-step through the process of creating, downloading, cleaning and then importing automated transcripts from interviews done via MS Teams or an institutional Zoom account, as well as uploading recordings from digital recorders to MS Stream for auto-transcribing.
There's then details of how to clean the VTT file ready for import into software - with an online page as well as code in github for local use and further development.
And then detailed step-by-steps of how to import and synchronise in three leading CAQDAS packages: MAXQDA, ATLAS.ti and NVivo for playback and correction including slowing down playback etc. This also opens up the opportunity to integrate initial analysis through annotating the text and starting coding while correcting. Furthermore with the transcript synchronised you can revisit the audio when viewing the text supporting much closer engagement with intonation, emotion and more.
There are also linked pages with detailed video step-by-steps for each package.

This makes it MUCH faster to go from interview > analysis: correcting a synchronised transcript takes around 1.5-2 x the length of the recording (i.e. an hours recording can be corrected in 1.5-2hrs) compared to typical 4-6x or even up to 8x the recording length for manual transcription. The opportunity to engage with analysis while transcribing through having a memo open and linking that, making annotations and beginning coding also brings to the fore that transcription is an analytical process.
